Clovelly Farmhouse
I have seen this house a few times before. Originally when the X and I had the shop at [Greenways]. I attended Clovelly one day to help a customer from [Greenways] with some computer issues he was having. Specifically he was having problems staying connected to the internet. He was also complaining that he couldn’t get a decent connection speed. I was living at Greenways at the time. (18 Klms away) I only had dialup access myself from Greenways. But I could get a 54kbps connect from my Softmodem. So i suggest he move from his obscure ISP. The next time was before I moved into this place. I’d heard that Clovelly was available. I went and looked at it properly this time. But the landlord turned out to be “not ready” to rent it.
Then recently I’d heard it was available again. So I went and looked at it again. But the landlord aparently had someone else for it. So I missed it. In desperation I contacted my real estate agent to ask them about another property that this same landlord had. Imagine my surprise to find out that the Landlord for Clovelly will allow us a 2 month trial in his house. Well that solves the problem of taking the kids out of Kangaroo Inn Area School. It saves me the expense of new school uniforms. But it means I will definately be on dialup again soon.
The house is quite lovely in some ways. But it’s past glory has faded with time. I think it needs refurbishing externally. When I saw it 2 years ago it looked a lot better. Maybe I just had stars in my eyes the first time I saw Clovelly. what it is and my memory of it do not mesh well. Initially I remembered it as some sort of mansion. But reality is that it is far less than a mansion. Althought (in my opinion) it certainly has possibilities to be done up. A lot of the hard work has already been done. But at the moment. It’s just a nice big old farmhouse. Internally the house is fine. But I think we will be spending most of our time in one bedroom (the study). I am thinking that the lounge room will basically go unused. Because the house is too large to try and keep warm/cold. I am just glad to be able to keep the kids at the same school. 2011-04-28 Clovelly

A couple of scenes at Clovelly over the last few days. The first image is the front lawn. (It was a forest a few days ago.. But this is a regular occasion.. See The Battle at Clovelly) The second scene is looking across the paddocks (in the direction of Robe) towards a watertank or mobile silo.

2010-04-22 ClovellySarah asked me if I had any better images of “Clovelly” available. Sure.. I said. So we surfed the the appropriate page on this server. Hmmm not displaying the graphics. I see the old domain name being referenced. (I better fix it..) I used to have these images on another page here once. The page wasn’t working (for last 2 years) because I changed my domain name. (The image url’s contained the domain name…) So… After finally realizing that the page was broken. (and misnamed..) Here they are.. (again). More Images of the Farmhouse called “Clovelly”. Clovelly Farmhouse(Edit: Added 2009-07-01) I woke this morning. Still half asleep. Stumbled out to the cold cold kitchen. Looking out the window while I was waiting for the kettle to boil. Frosty Morning?Hmm.. Is that frost all over the ground?

Mowing Grass at ClovellyThe lawn at Clovelly has become a problem again. I hadn’t been maintaining it due to the Victa 160cc Sportsmans Deluxe 2 Stroke loosing a blade and the circlip that holds the front wheels up. Damage to the plate under the Mower has prevented me from replacing the blades easily. So I have been looking for a solution for some time. (Meaning a RIDE ON LAWN MOWER - Cos the Victa is getting too hard to push around Clovelly) Unfortunately up until now all the Lawn Mowers Ive seen on ebay and the trading post. Are either too far away or too expensive. (Mostly both) So I have been watching the grass grow and getting worried about it. Becoming a huge problemTwo weeks ago the owner mentioned to me that the grass was getting too high. I told him then that I would take care of it. (But its a bit difficult..) Purchased a Rover Colt 5Anyway.. A couple of days ago. I met a man who lived in Robe. (34 Klms away) During the course of our conversation, I mentioned that I needed a Ride on Lawn Mower. This fine gent then offered me a Rover Colt 5 for $150. So this afternoon, I emptied the garbage we had been collecting in the car trailer at Furner. Then headed to Millicent and Fueled up (I was real real low on gas). While at the Service Station, I went to the carwash and High preasure cleaned out the trailer. (Ewww.. Im not gonna elaborate) Headed Home and then to Robe and picked up the Rover Colt 5. Bloody thing!After an uneventful drive home. Dan and I Got the Rover Colt 5 unloaded. Of course it wouldnt start. So out with the tools. (In the dark and the cold.. DUH!!) Took out the spark plug. Cleaned it. Good spark now. But still not going. Took off the airfilter. This allowed me to see the operation of the choke. (Or lack of operation) Hmmm… So I manually operate the throttle at the carby end to activate the choke. Grab that (*@#$%) pullstart again… (Puff Puff..) and Finally startedPutt Putt Putt Putt.. No worries.. Looks like I worked out how to start it.. So I check out the trottle cable. While looking at it. It somehow breaks. Dunno how. It wasn’t me. Ok.. It was me.. But it must have been ready to go at any second. So I take the unit off. Bring it inside and repair it. (Using swearwords, screwdriver, sidecutters, electric drill and grinding stone.) Reinstall it.. (With many misgivings about its remaining life) Test it.. Hmm well it actually works.. Still gonna be manual starts with a hand override on the throttle at the carby though. I will need a new cable. Maybe then I will be able to get the choke to operate as designed. Full Function!It goes forward. It goes backward. It actually cuts. (I tried it on a weed on the verandah) I’m in Lawn Mower Heaven. The owner of Clovelly is gonna forgive me when I get them lawns down (Sigh). 2007-12-04 Clovelly
